A unique terroir

Where the four elements of nature come together.

In the foothills of Monte Calisio

Elevation, silence, and light

The estate’s vineyards span twelve hectares at the foot of Monte Calisio, in Seregnano, near Trento. Perched at 600 meters above sea level and surrounding the winery, they provide ideal conditions for producing structured, precise sparkling wines with remarkable aging potential.

The soil of Moncalisse, composed of metamorphic rocks, particularly phyllites, and calcareous-sedimentary formations, as well as sandy porphyry soils enriched with quartz, deeply nourishes the vines’ roots. The temperature variations between day and night, amplified by the rising currents from the surrounding Alps and the breeze from the mountains above Lake Caldonazzo, which moderates the harsh winter temperatures, create a microclimate ideal for the balanced and harmonious development of the grapes.

The noble parcel

At the heart of the estate lies a unique one-hectare plot, home to a historic variety of Chardonnay clones that Julia and Karoline discovered on the acquired land and carefully restored. South-facing and still pergola-trained, this ancient vineyard retains extraordinary vitality, a testament to time and the attentive care of the estate. From this precious corner comes Montis Arcentarie Blanc de Blancs, first vinified in 2017. Its name honors the territory’s historic silver mining heritage, and the wine draws its elegance and complexity from the vines’ deep roots and centuries of tradition, capturing the distinctive character of this remarkable land.

Through careful restoration, the ancient pergola-trained vineyard has been brought back to its former splendor, revitalizing the parcel’s extraordinary vines, which comprise a variety of clones. Today, their life cycle unfolds in perfect balance:

smaller clusters, deep roots that draw water and nutrients, and mature wood that serves as a natural reservoir, all enhancing resilience and longevity. This resilience is mirrored in the wines, revealing consistent quality across vintages, precise structure, and refined complexity,

stemming from the age of the vines and their limited yields. Protected and serene, the parcel forms the very heart of Moncalisse, where winemaking mastery intertwines with the legacy of the land, giving rise to sparkling wines of singular identity, elegance, and enduring character.
